Departure from Nuuk

Departure from Nuuk is at 09:00 from the Tide Water Steps near Hotel Søma / straight across from the cruise terminal.

The Boat Tour

It takes approx. 2-3 hours to sail from Nuuk to Camp Kangiusaq, dependent on ice and weather conditions. We head between the beautiful mountains and venture deep into the fiord's icy waters, where icebergs of all shapes and sizes, as well as blue and white tones, surround us. Along the way we sometimes get lucky and encounter wildlife such as seals, humpback whales and a variety of birds such as white-tailed sea eagles.

Please Note: In the rare event that the fjord becomes completely blocked by sea-ice / icebergs, we will sail to Camp Kangiusaq with our large ice-classed steel ship 'Ice Force 8'. In this case the trip takes 5-6 hours.

Arrival at camp

We arrive at the camp at 11.30, dependent on ice conditions, and disembark at a nice wooden pontoon. We head straight to the main tent for lunch and an introduction to Camp Kangiusaq and our activities. A guide will be at the pontoon to welcome you and an ATV can carry your baggage up to the campsite.

Check-in and lunch

After a quick introduction to the camp, you can sit down to enjoy lunch while the guide ensures that all of the tents are ready. Lunch is served until 13.00. After lunch you have several activities to choose between.

All tents should be ready for check-in by 13.00.
