Are there many insects? Should I bring repellent or a head net?
From late June to early August, we can have many mosquitoes and other flying insects. We recommend that you bring insect repellent and a head net. Head nets are also available for purchase at the camp.
Is it quiet at night? Should I bring earplugs?
The camp is usually very quiet, with no artificial sounds whatsoever. All we can hear at night are the sounds of icebergs rolling and splitting in the fjord, the river running through the valley and wind rustling the fabric of the tents. We often awake to the sounds of birds.
If you are a light sleeper, you might nonetheless consider bringing earplugs.
Can I rent gear if I don’t have my own?
We provide all necessary equipment (drysuits, life vests etc.) for kayaking and boat trips. We also have hiking poles available.
For those wishing to hike by themselves, we also provide navigation and emergency communication equipment.
All necessary bedding and heating are provided.
You should bring all necessary clothing.
Can I pay by card? Is cash needed?
You can book Camp Kangiusaq online or via Payment is usually completed before departure. Physical cards are recommended; cash is rarely needed.
Is Camp Kangiusaq suitable for children?
Yes, depending on age and season. Supervision is important due to natural terrain.
Is it allowed to bring wine/beer?
We have a bar in the restaurant tent. Around the restaurant tent, only alcohol purchased in the camp can be consumed (due to our licence).
How much luggage can I bring?
Pack light. Soft bags and backpacks are preferred. Large suitcases are impractical.
Do I need to be in good shape to join?
Normal mobility is enough. Activities can be adjusted to comfort level.
